‘Emils Over the Alps’
The Swiss Air Force had purchased 80 Messerschmitt Bf 109E-1s and E-3s in 1939 and were to keep these fighters 
in front line service until December 1949. These aircraft patrolled and defended Swiss airspace throughout the Second World War, 
being painted in bright red and white identification stripes in the latter stages of the conflict
