‘Desert Duel’
High over the Western Desert, a pair of Curtiss P-40B Tomahawks of 112 Squadron RAF are intercepted 
by Unteroffizier Franz Schwaiger in his Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 Trop.  Officially known as Yellow Three of 6 Staffel from II Gruppe 
of Jagdgeschwader 3 (6./JG3),  Schwaiger named his 109F Gisela. Based at Castel Benito in Libya in February 1942, 
the unit spent most of the war on the Eastern Front, where Schwaiger achieved 56 of his total of 67 victories.
