'Grand Canyon Thunder'
The first unit to operate the type, four Lockheed F-104C Starfighters of the 479th Tactical Fighter Wing fly over the magnificent  Grand Canyon on their way home to George Air Force Base in California in 1958. The aircraft wear the red falling star  fin flash of the 476th Tactical Fighter Squadron and are led by 56-0910, the Wing Commander’s aircraft
